General Mills UK has announced that it will shift production of Saxby’s chilled pastry to its Berwick-upon-Tweed facility this summer.

As a result, operations at the Saxby’s facility in Wellingborough will cease.

Since acquiring Saxby Bros Limited at the start of the year, General Mills UK has been working closely with the Saxby’s team to better understand Saxby’s chilled pastry business. Following an extensive business review, the decision was made to consolidate manufacturing in Berwick, where Jus-Rol frozen pastry is produced.

General Mills recognizes the major impact this decision will have on Saxby employees. As a responsible employer, General Mills UK is committed to supporting the Wellingborough employees through this period of change.

Integrating operations “will put us in the best position to continue the growth of the UK ingredient pastry business,” said Jim Moseley, managing director of General Mills UK.

Saxby’s consumers will continue to find Saxby’s chilled pastry in their favorite stores, and the products will continue to be made with the high standards of quality that loyal Saxby’s consumers have come to expect.
